Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty trades above 8, 800 mark.. IT, Metal gain

Extending gains for the fourth straight session, the Indian stock market has kick started the start of a new week on a tepid note. The domestic markets swung between gains and losses in early trade.

At 1:22 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,669 up 70 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,812 up 23 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.62% at 13,132 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.54% at 12,833.

TCS, ICICI Bank, ONGC, Asian Paints and Adani Ports are among the gainers, whereas Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, HDFC, ITC and Axis Bank are losing sheen on BSE.

Some buying activity is seen in IT, metal, oil & gas, banking, auto, basic materials, energy, industrial and pharma sectors, while FMCG sectors is showing weakness on BSE.

The INDIA VIX is up 3.17% at 15.0425. Out of 1,868 stocks traded on the NSE, 663 declined, 906 advanced and 299 remained unchanged today.

A total of 49 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 19 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

United Breweries (Holdings) Ltd hit 20% upper circuit on the BSE. Vijay Mallya remains in “full control” even after relocating to the UK, his UB Group’s holding firm United Breweries Holdings Ltd (UBHL) has said while disclosing remuneration totalling Rs. 1.6 crore, as per media reports.

Cox and Kings 
zoomed 2% to Rs.233.75 on the BSE. According to TV reports, 15.7 lakh shares have changed hands in a single block deal.

Unitech is trading marginally down at Rs 6.43. The company has sold 2 million square feet of area amounting to Rs.362 crore during the quarter ended June 30, compared with the year-ago period, on account of higher volumes in the commercial segment. The company had sold 0.23 million square feet area for Rs. 178 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

NHC Foods Ltd slipped 3.2% on the BSE. The company announced that Malaysia based MAP Enterprises picked up a stake. MAP Enterprises has been the NHC’s overseas partner for the last two decades.

Vipul climbed 7.3% to Rs 80.25. The company has received Environmental Clearance from State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Haryana for its project ‘Aarohan’ on Golf Course Road in Gurgaon. By June 2016, the company had already sold more than 26 per cent of flats in Phase 1 of the project. Further, the company had raised debt from DMI Finance (DMI) to the tune of Rs.175 crore.

Motherson Sumi Systems gained 0.69%. The company has raised Rs 1,993.44 crore through issuance of 62,884,827 shares to qualified institutional buyers (QIBs). The company’s qualified institutional placement (QIP) issue opened on September 8 and closed on September 13 for receiving applications from investors. For the QIP, 62,884,827 shares were issued to qualified institutional buyers at an issue price of Rs 317 after giving a discount of 2.79 per cent.

Axis Bank slipped 1% to Rs.597. Axis Bank has signed a Share Purchase Agreement with IFCI for acquistion of 73,28,334 equity shares (13.67% of total outstanding shares) of face value of Rs.10 per share in Assets Care and Resconstruction Enterprise Ltd (ACRE) from IFCI at Rs.31 per share, resulting in a total cash consideration of Rs.22.72 crore. The above transaction is subject to requisite regulatory approvals, including from RBI.

Karur Vysya Bank gained 1.9%. The board of directors of private sector Karur Vysya Bank will meet on Monday to consider a stock split. The board will consider the feasibility of sub-division of equity shares

South Indian Bank is trading down 0.21%. RBI has restricted overseas investors to make further investment in South Indian Bank as the prescribed foreign shareholding limit has reached the trigger limit.

ICICI Bank advanced 1.3% to Rs.271.10 on the BSE.

Heritage Foods rallied 5.5%. Future Group is in advanced talks to acquire the retail business of Heritage Foods, a deal that will give Kishore Biyani sway over a network of more than 100 grocery outlets in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru, as per media reports.

The rupee opened higher three paise at 66.95/$ against US Dollar Monday as against the previous close of 66.98/$.

Asian markets are trading mixed on Monday ahead of central bank meetings in the United States and Japan this week. Japanese market is closed on Monday for a public holiday.  Shanghai Composite and Hang Seng up 0.50%.

Wall Street closed lower on Friday. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 0.49% to end at 18,123 points. The S&P 500 dropped 0.38% and the Nasdaq slipped 0.1% to 5,244.57 points. Investors will look for clarity from the US Federal Reserve on the timing of the next interest rate hike, with many analysts suggesting a rise in September was unlikely following a series of lower-than-expected economic data. Crude oil prices fell 2 percent on Friday to multi-week lows as swelling Iranian exports reinforced fears of a global glut, while gasoline rallied on refinery and pipeline outages.

Sensex up over 150 points

The domestic market came off their intra-day highs as investors booked profits at higher levels amid weak European cues. The Nifty50 gave up its gains of the day slipping below the 8,800 mark. Banking and metal stocks have lead the fall.

The Indian stock market rallied tracking positive trend seen in Asian markets after weak US data reduced the already low chance of an interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve at next week's meeting. The Sensex jumped over 250 points, while the broader Nifty50 rallied above its key 8,800 level.

The Nifty reclaimed its crucial level of 8,800 supported by gains in IT, realty, power, oil & gas, capital goods, banks, and auto stocks.


The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,556 up 143 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,763 up 21 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.41% at 13,037 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.25% at 12,714.

Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Matuti Suzuki, SBI, Axis Bank and NTPC are among the gainers, whereas Cox & King, Monsanto, ICRA, Britannia and Sanofi are losing sheen on BSE.

Some buying activity is seen in FMCG, utilities, power, oil & gas, energy and IT sectors, while metal, banking, and industrial, realty and finance sectors are showing weakness on BSE.

Sensex rises over 300 points

The Indian stock market rallied tracking positive trend seen in Asian markets after weak US data reduced the already low chance of an interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve at next week's meeting. The Sensex jumped over 250 points, while the broader Nifty50 rallied above its key 8,800 level.

The Nifty reclaimed its crucial level of 8,800 supported by gains in IT, realty, power, oil & gas, capital goods, banks, and auto stocks.

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,737 up 325 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,837 up 95 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.28% at 13,259 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 1.08% at 12,883.

Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Matuti Suzuki, SBI, Axis Bank and NTPC are among the gainers, whereas Cox & King, Monsanto, ICRA, Britannia and Sanofi are losing sheen on BSE.

All the BSE sectoral indices were trading in the positive territory.

The INDIA VIX is down 3.40% at 14.1775. Out of 1,856 stocks traded on the NSE, 255 declined, 1,216 advanced and 385 remained unchanged today.

A total of 43 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 14 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Nifty hits 8800 mark

At 9:15 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,577 up 164 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,790 up 48 points.

The rupee opened higher 16 paise at 66.86/$ against US Dollar Friday as against the previous close of 67.02/$. The rupee gained against the dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today as exporters and banks stepped up dollar sale amid higher opening in the domestic equity market.

Asian markets are trading higher. Wall Street closed with gains on Thursday.

The Dow Jones industrial average jumped 0.99% to end the day at 18,212.48 points and the S&P 500 rallied 1.01% to 2,147.26. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.47% to 5,249.69. Apple surging 12% over the past four sessions, its suppliers also rallied. Chipmaker Skyworks Solutions jumped 6.4% and was the top percentage gainer on the benchmark S&P index. Oil prices retreated Friday morning Asia time, after seeing some rebound overnight.

Investors remained cautious ahead of the policy meetings of the Bank of Japan and US Federal Reserve. Bank of Japan and the Fed policy review will be held on 20-21 September.

The bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted unanimously in September to hold the base rate at 0.25 percent, which was cut in August. It also voted unanimously to maintain the size of its corporate bonds purchases at up to £10 billion ($13.2 billion) and government bond purchases at £435 billion.

HPL Electric & Power has fixed the price band for its Rs 361 crore IPO at Rs 175-202 per share. The company's initial public offer will open from September 22-26.

On the economy front, the trade deficit in the month was $7.67 billion, against $12.39 billion in the year-ago period, as imports fell by a steeper 14.09 per cent to $29.19 billion, according to Commerce Ministry data released on Thursday.

Live Stock Market Updates - Sensex ends 41 points higher; Nifty above 8,700 mark

Finally, the BSE Sensex ended with a gain of 41 points at 28,413. The BSE Sensex opened at 28,398 touched an intra-day high of 28,444 and low of 28,311.

The NSE Nifty closed with a gain of 23 points at 8,749. The NSE Nifty opened at 8,744 hitting a high of 8,752 and low of 8,704.35.

Reliance Communications Ltd gained 0.6% to Rs.51.35. RComm has signed an agreement to merge its wireless business with smaller rival Aircel Ltd. The new entity will combine R-Com’s wireless business and Aircel’s operations in India.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd advanced 1.1%. The pharma company said its buyback offer of 75 lakh equity shares will open on 22 September. The issue will close on 5 October.

Yes Bank Ltd is currently trading at Rs. 1227.8, down by Rs. 25.6 or 2.04% from its previous closing of Rs. 1253.4 on the BSE. As per media report, the Securities & Exchange Board of India is looking into the lender's notices to stock exchanges about the planned equity placement (QIP).

SBI slipped 0.91%. The bank said it had raised $300 million (about Rs.2,000 crore) through the country's first additional tier 1 (AT1) bond offering. The size of the Basel-III compliant bond was pruned from $500 million.

Tata Power is trading marginally higher at Rs.75.45. Tata Power on Wednesday announced that it has completed the acquisition of Welspun Renewables Energy and has appointed Chetan Tolia as CEO of the newly bought firm.

Ashok Leyland tumbled 3.4% to Rs.81.65. The board of automobile component firm Hinduja Foundries Ltd has given its nod for amalgamating the company with Ashok Leyland subject to regulatory and shareholders approval of both the companies.

BEML dropped 9.2% to Rs.932. BEML Ltd's standalone net loss widened to Rs 107.10 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016. The company had posted a net loss from ordinary activities after tax of Rs 68.10 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in a BSE filing.

NBCC gained 1.6% to Rs.253. NBCC (India) Ltd reported 16% increase in consolidated net profit to Rs.47.09 crore for the quarter ended June 30.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), India’s leading passenger vehicle maker, announced to partner Uber India through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Under the MoU, the Company will train over 30,000 individuals/Uber partner-drivers in safe driving over a period of 3 years.

Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd is currently trading at Rs. 3.5, down by Rs. 0.04 or 1.13% from its previous closing of Rs. 3.54 on the BSE. The company posted its standalone net loss widened to Rs.108.80 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 as against a net loss of Rs.60.66 crore in the year-ago period.

IVRCL zoomed 2.9% to Rs.5.57. IVRCL has posted a loss of Rs.151.85 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016, as against a loss of Rs.189.65 crore for the corresponding quarter last year on a standalone basis.

The rupee opened marginally higher one paise at 66.88/$ against US Dollar Thursday as against the previous close of 66.89/$. 

Asian markets are lower this morning. Markets in China, Taiwan and South Korea were closed for public holidays on Thursday. Wall Street closed flat on Wednesday. The Dow Jones industrial average ended down 0.18% at 18,034.77 points and the S&P 500 gave up 0.06% to 2,125.77. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.36% to 5,173.77.

On the global front, the Bank of England will be a focus as the central bank is seen standing pat after easing policy last month, amid signs it overestimated the initial shock to Britain's economy from June's Brexit vote.

On the economy front, India's wholesale-price index (WPI) rose 3.74% in August, quicker than the 3.55% increase in July.

Nifty holds 8700 amid volatility; Hero, Tata Steel decline

The choppy trade continued for second consecutive session as investors remained cautious ahead of two-day Federal Reserve's policy meeting that will start on September 20. 

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 30.49 points at 28341.74 and the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 11.95 points to 8714.65.

 Axis Bank, Hero Motocorp and Tata Steel fell over 2 percent while ITC, Maruti, BHEL and Cipla gained 1-2 percent.

 European stocks were mixed as global markets trod carefully amid nerves over central bank action.

 Oil prices rebounded after falling around 3 percent in the previous session, supported by an unexpected fall in US crude inventories. Brent crude futures were trading at USD 46.04 per barrel, up 0.45 percent, from the last settlement. US West Texas Intermediate futures were up 0.16 percent, at USD 43.65 a barrel.
