Nifty closes below 8900, Sensex down by nearly 70 points, BHEL closed up by 6%

Nifty closed at 8878 levels, down by 18 points or 0.2%. Sensex closed at 28743 levels, down by 69 points or 0.2%.
 
There were 807 advances, 651 declines and 66 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting negative undertone floating in the market.
 
BHEL was the top Nifty gainer, whereas BPCL was the top Nifty loser in Tuesday’s trading session.
 
Broader markets outperformed the major indices in Tuesday’s trading session. BSE Mid-cap index closed at 13552 levels, up by 18 points or 0.1%; while BSE Small-cap index closed at 13698 levels, up by 88 points or 0.6%.
 
Economic Affairs Secretary said on Tuesday that all states have agreed and the GST bill will be implemented by July 1. Soon after the announcement major Logistics' stocks were buzzing on bourses. Gati was up by 8.2%, Snowman Logistics was up by 7.2%, VRL Logistics was up by 5.9% and Transport Corporation was up by 5.1%. Gati closed at Rs 129.7 per share, up by Rs 6.3 or 5.1%.
 
Manali Petrochemicals spiked by 12.4% in the BSE Small-cap index as government is likely to levy anti-dumping duties of upto USD 135.4 per tonne on imports of a chemical used in foam making, which comes from Thailand. The stock closed at Rs 41.4 per share, up by Rs 5.9 or 16.7%.    
 
Transformers and Rectifiers India is having a profitable day on the bourses. The stock of the company has zoomed 8% intraday. The stock closed at Rs 399.3 per share, up by Rs 7.3 or 1.8%.    
 
Bajaj Finserv Limited touched its record 52-week high of Rs 4005 per share, up by Rs 183.8 per share or 4.8%. The stock closed at Rs 3976 per share, up by Rs 139.4 or 3.6%.

Opening Bell - Markets open flat with positive bias; Idea top Nifty loser

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 12.31 points at 28825.19 while the Nifty50 opened higher by 2.25 points at the 8898.95 mark.
 

There are 842 advances, 495 declines and 443 unchanged stocks on NSE in the morning hours on Tuesday.
 
Tata Power is the Nifty top gainer while Idea Cellular is the Nifty top loser. Tata Power is trading at Rs 84.20 per share up by 1.81%. Idea Cellular is trading at Rs 110.30 per share, down by 3.71%.
 

The rupee opened at 66.74 per dollar lower by 4 paise.
 
Nifty50 has immediate support placed at 8,880 level, if this support is breached, the next support for Nifty50 is placed at the level of 8820. While on the upside, 8,950 and 8980 are likely to act as an immediate barrier in the short term.
 
The US stocks overcame early weakness to push further into record territory on Monday, with the Dow Industrial posting a 12th straight record close. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 15.68 points to finish at record 20,837.44. The S&P 500 advanced 2.39 points to close at a record 2,369.73. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 16.59 points to close at 5,861.90.
 
On Tuesday, most of the Asian shares edged higher following yet another record finish on the Wall Street overnight after US President Donald Trump promised to spend on infrastructure. Japan’s Nikkei 225 surged 0.65 per cent and the Shanghai Composite gained 0.29 per cent, while Hang Seng is trading flat.

Market snaps 6-days gaining streak; Reliance gain ground

Nifty closed at 8896.70 levels, down by 42.80 points or 0.48%. Sensex closed at 28812.88 levels, down by 80.09 points or 0.28%.
 

Axis Bank Limited closed at Rs 509 per share, down by Rs 18.65 per share or 3.53%. ICICI Bank and Axis Bank were the biggest contributors to the Sensex losses.
 
There were 701 advances, 951 declines and 272 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting negative undertone floating in the market.
 
Reliance Industries Limited was the top Nifty gainer, whereas Idea Cellular Limited was the top Nifty loser in Thursday’s trading session.
 
Reliance Industries Limited extended its gains, touching fresh 52-week high of Rs 1256.80 per share, up by Rs 74.05 per share or 6.26%.
 
ONGC may acquire HPCL in Rs 44000 cr deal. HPCL’s current market capitalisation is Rs 57000 cr. ONGC may buy Govt's entire 51.1% stake in HPCL.
 
BSE Mid-cap index closed at 13533.78 levels, up by 1.67 points or 0.01%; while BSE Small-cap index closed at 13609.88 levels, up by 22.10 points or 0.16%.
 

Live Stock Market Updates - Sensex hovers around 28900 mark, Reliance Defense up by 9.06%

Reliance Defence is soaring on intraday basis as Anil Ambani is expected to announce defence business plan later today. The stock zoomed over 9%.
 

BSE Energy stocks buzzing as major stocks in the indices are lifting the index. Reliance is up by 4.81%, Petronet LNG is up by 2.90% and Gulf Petroleum is up by 1.94%.
 
At 1 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28906.40 up 15.05 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8926.50 down 12.75 points. A total of 49 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 19 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.19% at 13557.97, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.26% at 13623.55.
 

Some buying activity is seen in Energy, Healthcare, IT, Utilities, and Consumer Durables whereas, FMCG, Finance, Telecom, and Auto are showing weakness on BSE.
 
Reliance, Aurobindo Pharma, Hindustan Uniliver, Infosys, and Hero Motocorp are among the gainers, whereas Axis Bank, Zeel, Power Grid, Infratel and Eicher Motors are losing on the NSE.
 
The INDIA VIX is up 2.25% at 13.70.

Opening Bell - Nifty opens flat; Aurobindo Pharma & RIL top Nifty gainers

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 17.59 points at 28910.50, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 4.2 points at the 8943.70 mark.
 
Aurobindo Pharma is the Nifty top gainer whereas Idea Cellular Ltd., is the Nifty top loser in the morning hours. Aurobindo Pharma is trading at Rs 673.40 per share up by 1.07%. Idea is trading at Rs 117.50 per share, down by 1.76%. RIL is trading at its 8-year high.
 
The rupee opened at 66.72 per dollar at over 3-months high.

 
The 8,970-9,000 zone is likely to remain a key resistance area in the short term for Nifty50. On the downside, immediate support is placed around the level of 8,880 and if this support is breached next major support is placed around the level of 8,820.
 
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher at 11th consecutive trading session on Friday. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 0.17%, while the S&P 500 Index rose by 0.15%.
 
The European markets closed in negative territory in Friday's trading session, as weakness in the U.S., a fall in commodities and a slew of underwhelming earnings reports weighed on investor sentiment. FTSE 100 closed lower by 27.67 points, German DAX closed lower by 143.80 points and CAC 40 of France closed lower by 46.05 points.
 
On Monday, Asian shares started the new trading week on a negative note. Japan’s Index Nikkei 225 fell over 1% as the yen strengthened for the fourth session. Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite lost 0.27% and 0.17%, respectively.

Nifty slips below 8950 level; Idea top Nifty gainer

Nifty closed at 8939.50 levels, up by 12.60 points or 0.14%. Sensex closed at 28892.97 levels, up by 28.26 points or 0.10%.
 
There were 699 advances, 941 declines and 273 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting negative undertone floating in the market.
 
Idea was the top Nifty gainer whereas Grasim was the topNifty loser in Thursday’s trading session.
 
Idea and Bharti Airtel contributed the most to the BSE Telecom index’s gains. BSE Telecom index closed at 1306.93 levels, up by 23.35 points or 1.82%.
 
Idea closed at Rs 119.80 per share, up by Rs 7.20 per share or 6.39%. Bharti Airtel closed at Rs 366.40 per share, up by Rs 5.40 per share or 1.5%. Airtel touched its fresh 52-week high of Rs 401 per share, up by
Rs 40 per share or 11.1%.
 

Bharti Airtel entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Telenor India. The proposed acquisition will include transfer of all Telenor India’s assets and customers, further augmenting Airtel’s overall customer base and network. It will also enable Airtel to further bolster its strong spectrum foot-print in these seven circles, with the addition of 43.4 MHz spectrum in the 1800 MHz band.
 
As a part of the agreement, Airtel will acquire Telenor India’s running operation in seven circles- Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP East and West and Assam. These circles represent a high population concentration and therefore offer high potential for growth.
 
IT giants, TCS and Infosys lifted the BSE Information Technology index on Thursday. BSE IT index closed at 10378.56 levels, up by 173.89 points or 1.7%.

 
TCS closed at Rs 2481.80 per share, up by Rs 70.3 per share or 2.91%.
Infosys closed at Rs 1008.85 per share, up by Rs 18.8 per share or 1.88%.
 
Reliance Industries Limited touched its fresh 52-week high of Rs 1222 per share, up by Rs 14.50 per share or 1.20% in the morning hours on Thursday, but slipped in further trade, witnessing profit booking. The stock closed in red at Rs 1186.80 per share, down by Rs 20.70 per share or 1.71%.

Opening Bell - Nifty firmly opens above 8950 level; Bharti Airtel up by more than 10%


At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 62.96 points at 28927.67, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 29.5 points at the 8956.40 mark.
 

There are 860 advances, 545 declines and 466 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting positive undertone in the market.
 
Idea is the top Nifty gainer and Bharti Infratel is the top Nifty loser in the morning hours on Thursday. Idea is trading at Rs 116.20 per share, up by 3.20%. Bharti Infratel is trading at Rs 298 per share, down by 0.91%.

The rupee opened flat at 66.96 per dollar.
 
Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecommunication services provider has entered into a definitive agreement with Telenor South Asia Investments Pte Ltd to acquire Telenor India Communications Private Limited which is subject to requisite regulatory approvals.
 
Bharti Airtel is trading at Rs 398.95 per share up by 10.86%.
 
For the day, stiff resistance for Nifty50 is positioned around levels of 8,960-8,970. On the downside, supports are seen at 8,880 and 8,820.
 
The US stocks finished mostly lower on Wednesday, but that did not stop the Dow Jones Industrial Average to log its best record-setting streak in the last three decades. The Dow Jones gained 32.60 points. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 Index shed 2.58 points and the Nasdaq Composite Index slipped 5.32 points. Stocks pared earlier gains as Federal Reserve minutes implied that the central bank is comfortable with raising interest rates “fairly soon”.
 
On Thursday, Asian shares are trading in the negative terrain as Federal Reserve minutes showed that “many” Fed officials expressed support for raising interest rates “fairly soon” if the economy stayed on course or strengthened. Japan’s Nikkei 225 slipped 71 points, Hang Seng dropped 149 points and Shanghai shed 8 points.

Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty hovers around 8950, Sensex up over 150 points, SJVN tanks over 6%The Cabinet has approved SJVN’s proposal to invest Rs 5723 crore in Nepal. Opening Bell - Nifty opens firmly above 8900 level; Reliance up by more than 3%

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 60.81 points at 28822.40, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 19.7 points at the 8927.55 mark.
 

There are 915 advances, 699 declines and 97 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive sentiments floating in the market.
 
PowerGrid is the top Nifty gainer while Idea Cellular is the top Nifty loser. PowerGrid is trading at Rs 208.40 per share, up by 1.09% whereas Idea Cellular is trading at Rs 107.75 per share, down 0.55%.

Reliance Industries Limited is trading at Rs 1123.65 per share, up by 3.26%. 
The rupee opened lower at 66.95 per dollar.
 

The level of 8,968 is a crucial level as it’s a previous intermediate top that was formed on September 7, 2016, while on the downside, if the 8,880 level is breached, it is likely to test level of 8,820, which is a major support level.
 
The US stocks closed in positive territory on Tuesday. Three major indices in the American markets closed at record highs. NASDAQ closed higher by 27.37 points or 0.47%; Dow Jones closed higher by 118.95 points or 0.58%; and S&P 500 closed higher by 14.22 points or 0.6%.

 
The Asian stocks were trading on mixed note, despite strong overnight cues from the US as investors await the minutes of the latest Federal Reserve meeting. Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped 32 points as strength in the yen weighed on exporters. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading higher by 200 points and Shanghai Composite is trading flat.

Other Metal stocks like National Aluminium Company Limited, Welspun Corp Limited and Bhushan Steel Limited are trading with gains of more than 3%.
 
Wockhardt Limited is witnessing profit booking with decline in its open interest by 1.55% and decline in share price by 0.46%.
