Nifty closes above 9100 for first time; HDFC, Infosys, L&T top contributors to Nifty index gains


Barometer index Nifty closed at it all time high of 9153 levels, up by 68 points or 0.7%. While, Sensex closed at 29586 levels, up by 187 points or 0.6%.  

HDFC, Infosys, L&T were the top contributors to Nifty index gains lifting the it to higher levels.
 
Nifty, Nifty Bank and Nifty Midcap ended at record closing highs on Thursday. whereas, Sensex closed 96 points away from its record closing high of 29682. All the sectoral indices closed in green, Nifty Metal being the top gainer.
 

While, on the NSE advance decline ratio was at 5:2. There were 1149 advances, 482 declines and 288 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting bullish undertone floating in the market.
 
Adani Ports was the top Nifty gainer whereas, Bharti Airtel was the top Nifty loser in Thursday’s trading session.
 
The BSE Mid-cap Index closed up 1.5% at 13912 whereas, BSE Small-cap Index closed up 1% at 14006.

APL Apollo Tubes soared over 5% as the company announced partnership with NEXTracker, hitting a 52-week high of Rs 1149.10.
 
Ashoka Buildcon soared over 7% hitting a 52-week high of Rs 199.65 per share. The stocks closed at Rs 196 up by Rs 10 per share or 5%.
 

Pennar Engineeered jumped over 11% as the company bagged order an order worth Rs 152 crore. The stock closed at Rs 130 up by Rs 10 per share or 8%.
 
HCL Tech rallied over 5% as the company is considering buyback of  its shares on March 20. The stocks closed at Rs 53 up by Rs 1 or 2%.

Live Stock Market Updates – Sensex at two-year high, Nifty holds morning gains, Logistics stocks sizzle


Sensex index surged past its two-year high to 29,583.45, up 0.7% or 194.37 points on Thursday’s trade.
 

Share of tech giant HCL Technologies jumped 3% as the company on Wednesday announced is going to consider buyback of its shares.
 
Logistics stocks are gaining ground as the GST Council is likely to endorse additional legislation for implementation of the GST on Thursday.
 

Transport and logistics stocks on the exchanges such as, TCI Express is up by 10.5%, Transport Corp is up by 7.1%, Chartered Logistics is up by 4.7%, Snowman Logistics is up by 3.3%, All Cargo is up by 2.6%, VRL Logistics is up by 2% and Arshiya is up by 2%.
 
At 1 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 29536 up 137 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 9137 up 52 points. A total of 70 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 25 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
 

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.1% at 13858, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 1% at 14001.
 
Some buying activity is seen in FMCG, Finance, Industrials, IT and Auto indices while, Telecom index is showing weakness on BSE.
 
Adani Ports, Tata Steel, HCT Tech, Hindalco, IndusInd Bank and Infosys are among the gainers, whereas Bharti Airtel, Reliance, HDFC Bank and Zeel are losing on the NSE.
 
The INDIA VIX is down 3% at 12.

Opening Bell - Nifty touches all-time high of 9143; HCL Tech top Nifty gainer


At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 84 points at 29482, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 45 points at the 9129 mark. Nifty touched its all-time high of 9143 level in the morning hour on Thursday.
 
HCL Technologies is the top Nifty gainer. The stock is trading at Rs 857.3 per share, up by 1.7%.
 
Century Textiles & Industries Limited is trading at Rs 1038 per share, up by 1.8%. Hindalco Industries Limited is trading at Rs 193.4 per share, up by 1.3%.
 
There are 1111 advances, 312 declines and 462 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive bias floating in the market.
 
Nifty50 needs to hold above the level of 9,120 to start a fresh up-move towards levels of 9,180-9,230, while on the downside, the level of 9,000 is likely to act as strong support.
 
The rupee opened at its fresh 16-months high of 65.38 per dollar up by 0.4%. The rupee gained 2.1% in the month of march and 3.9% on YTD basis.
 
The US stocks surged higher on Wednesday as the Federal Reserve raised interest rates. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 113 points to end at 20,950. The S&P 500 index rose 20 points to finish at 2,385. The Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 43 points to 5,900.
 

The European markets closed higher on Wednesday. FTSE 100 closed higher by 11 points at 7368 level, CAC closed higher by 11 points at 4985 level, German DAX closed higher by 21 points at 12009 levels.
 
SGX Nifty is trading higher by 66 points at 9175 level.
