Nifty closes at 9160, Sensex above 60 points, ITC stock of the day


Barometer index NSE Nifty in opening session hit it all time high of 9207.80 marks, soon after paring its gains in the afternoon session and managing to close in green up by 6 points. While Sensex closed 33 points away from it record closing high.
 

NSE Nifty closed at 9160 levels, up by 6 points or 0.07%. BSE Sensex closed at 29,648 levels, up by 63 points or 0.21%.
 
There were 691 advances, 954 declines and 275 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting bearish undertone floating in the market.
 
ITC was the top Nifty gainer whereas, Idea was the top Nifty loser in Friday’s trading session.
 
The BSE Mid-cap Index closed down 0.1% at 13893 whereas, BSE Small-cap Index closed up 0.1% at 14012.

Cigarette company shares since morning session were sizzling on bourses as the GST Council on Thursday cleared a proposal to cap the cess on tobacco and cigarettes on Thursday.
 
ITC rallied 7.5% hitting a high of Rs 288 per share, the stock closed at Rs 280 per share up by Rs 12 per share or 4.6%
 
Sugar stocks in closing hours of trade were gained ahead of the sugar output data.
 
Andhra Sugar was up by 8.5%, the stock closed at Rs 296 up by Rs 19 per share or 6.9%.

Opening Bell – Nifty opens above 9200 for the first time; ITC up by 4.3%


At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 170 points at 29755, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 54 points at the 9207 mark.
 

ITC is the top Nifty gainer and Tech Mahindra is the top Nifty loser in the morning hours on Friday. ITC is trading at Rs 280 per share up by 4.34%. Tech Mahindra is trading at Rs 475 per share down by 1.2%.
 

Wipro is trading at Rs 504 per share, up by 0.76%. Lupin is trading at Rs 1465 per share, up by 0.69%. Megasoft Limited is trading at Rs 22.25 per share, up by 10.7%.
 
The levels of 9,200 and 9,230 are likely to act as resistance for Nifty50. On the downside, immediate support will be offered at the level of 9,120 and the next support at the level of 9,070.
 
The rupee opened at 65.48 per dollar lower by 4 paise.
 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 16 points to finish at 20,935. The Nasdaq Composite index finished marginally up by 1 point at 5,901. The S&P 500 index finished down 4 points at 2,381.
 
The Asian markets also trading in positive territory. Nikkei 225 is trading lower by 70 points at 19519 level. SGX Nifty is trading higher by 21 points at 9206 level.
 
The European markets closed higher on Thursday. FTSE 100 closed higher by 47 points at 7415 level. CAC 40 of France closed higher by 28 points at 5013 level. German DAX closed higher by 73 points at 12083 level.
