Sensex and Nifty closed at five months' closing high; Mid-cap index closed at record high .

Nifty was hovering around 8800 level for whole day and managed to close at 8801.05 levels, up by 60.1 points. Nifty closed above 8800 for the first time since September 23, 2016. Sensex closed at 28439.28 levels, up by 198.76 points. Nifty & Sensex closed at 5 months’ closing highs.

Broader markets outperformed the major indices. BSE Mid-cap index closed at 13430.94 levels, up by 145.53 points. BSE Small-cap index closed at 13539.72 levels, up by 117.62 points. Nifty Mid-cap index closed at record closing high.
 
36 Nifty stocks closed in green, 15 Nifty stocks closed in red in the pack of Nifty50 index.


Whirlpool, Titan and PC Jewellers Limited were the top gainers in the BSE Consumer Durables index, closing up by more than 2% each.

BSE FMCG index outperformed its sectoral peers.

Sugar stocks gained, with Renuka Sugar, KCP Sugar Industries and Dhampur Sugar all closing up by more than 10% each.

BSE Realty index was the top performer by gaining more than 1.7%. HDIL, Godrej properties, Prestige and Unitech were top realty gainers on Monday, gaining more than 2.5% each.

These stocks have touched their all time highs in todays trade

The Indian markets on February 6, 2017 opened in green and are trading strong for the moment, with the Sensex up by 205.99 points; and Nifty trading up by 57.60 points.
 

Meanwhile, Biocon has hit its all time high of Rs 1084.75. IndusInd Bank too has hit a record high of Rs 1335.95. Future Retail, Aarti Industries,

 ICICI Prudential Life and Andhra Sugars were some of the stocks which hit a new high on Monday. IGL hit  a fresh high of Rs 515.
 
In the morning trade there were 48 stocks which had hit their all time highs. The Sensex last week ended 1% higher all thanks to Union Budget 2017. The RBI policy which is due to be declared this week would be eagerly watched by the markets. 

Top 15 stocks in focus today: Dr Reddy's, Jet Airways, Container Corporation

CONCORThe Board of Directors may inter alia consider issue of Bonus Shares to the shareholders of the company which, if approved, will be subject to applicable regulatory provisions and the approvals of shareholders and others as may be required for the same.


Dr Reddy's Laboratories: The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 470 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2016
, registering a 19% decline from Rs 579 crore in the same period a year ago.

Tata Sons: Tata Sons EGM today to consider Cyrus Mistry's ouster as director.

IL&FS Transportation Networks: The company's joint venture with IL&FS Engineering & Construction bags projects under Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation.

Bank of Baroda: The bank keeps MCLR unchanged.

Nifty trades close to crucial level of 8800; Axis Bank up by 1.9%

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 99.48 points at 28340.39, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 44.5 points at the 8785.45 mark.
 

There are 970 advances, 408 declines and 415 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting firm positive start for Monday’s trading session.
 

The rupee opened at 67.20 per dollar up by 11 paise. The rupee touched its three months high of 67.22 per dollar up by 0.14% in first few minutes of trading.
 
The zone of 8760-8780 is likely to act as a resistance zone of the Nifty. A decisive move above this range is likely to open gates for upmove up to level of 8830. On the downside, support is likely to come in around the level of 8650.
 
The US stocks closed near day’s high, with Dow Jones reclaiming a close above 20,000 mark, while Nasdaq reached a record level. The steps taken by President Donald Trump to roll back bank regulations and a stronger-than-expected January jobs report contributed to the upbeat sentiment.
