Major indices snap 4-day rally; Tata Motors drags Nifty

Nifty closed at 8792.30 levels, down by 12.75 points. Sensex closed at 28339.31 levels, down by 12.31 points.
 

There were 535 advances, 1085 declines and 291 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting a negative bias floating in the market. There were 60 stocks that touched their fresh 52-week highs and 13 stocks that touched their fresh 52-week lows on NSE.
 
Bharti Airtel was the top gainer in the Nifty50 stocks. The stocks closed at Rs 368.65 per share, up by Rs 10.60 per share or 2.96%. Tata Motors DVR stock was the top loser in the Nifty50 stocks. The stock closed at Rs 288.50 per share, down by Rs 28.45 per share or 8.98%.

 
GAIL was the top gainer in the Sensex stocks. The stock closed at Rs 496 per share, up by Rs 14.80 per share or 3.08%. Tata Motors Ltd., was the top loser in the Sensex stocks which closed at Rs 468.30 per share, down by Rs 37.10 per share or 7.34%.

F&O cues for Bank Nifty.

Nifty Bank index is trading at 20214.20 levels, down by 37.60 points or 0.19%. Bank Nifty futures of February series is trading at 20248.40 levels at a premium of 34.2. It closed at a premium of 33.7 in the previous trading session.
 
Nifty Bank 16-Feb 20500 CE witnessed addition of 2,55,680 contracts in its Open Interest (OI). Nifty Bank 16-Feb 20000 PE witnessed addition of 1,30,640 contracts in its OI.
 
Maximum open interest is seen at strike price of 20500 level, which stands at 7,98,520 contracts for call options. Maximum open interest is seen at strike price of 20000 level, which stands at 5,64,760 contracts for put options.
 
Put call ratio (PCR) for Bank Nifty expiring on February 16, stands at 0.73, wherein a PCR below 1 is generally considered as bearish in nature.

Live Stock Market Updates: Nifty down by 12 points; Eicher Motors is top gainer and BPCL is top loser on NSE

Nifty PSU Bank index is trading flat with slight positive bias. All the other sectors on NSE are trading in negative territory.
 
BSE Auto index is trading in red in early hours of trade. The index is trading at 21994.12 levels, and is down by 168.19 points or 0.76%.
 
Majority of the index constituents are trading in red, driving the index down. Hero MotoCorp is down by 2.08%, Tata Motors is down by 1.60%, Bajaj Auto is down by 1.53%, Ashok Leyland is down by 1.19% and Maruti is down by 0.37%. Tata Motors alone is contributing 35% to the index downfall.

At 10:00 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28328.83 down 22.79 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8793.05 down 12 points. A total of 33 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 9 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
 
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.33% at 13374.08, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.16% at 13501.47.
 
Some buying activity is seen in Healthcare, Bank and Realty while Oil & Gas, Energy, Finance, Telecom are showing weakness on BSE.
 
Adani Ports, Bank of Baroda, Tech
Mahindra, Grasim and ONGC are among the gainers, whereas BPCL, Hero Motocorp, Ambuja Cement, Tata Motors and Zee Entertainment are losing sheen on NSE in the first trading hour.
 
The INDIA VIX is up 0.47% at 13.75.

Opening Bell - Markets open flat with a slight positive bias; Hindalco top gainer in Nifty; ITC top gainer in Sensex

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 34.5 points at 28386.12, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 0.75 points at the 8805.80 mark.

The rupee opened at 66.97 per dollar higher by 5 paise.
 
There are 784 advances, 577 declines and 441 unchanged stocks on NSE in the morning hours on Tuesday.
 

Sun Pharma, Adani Ports, Jindal Steel and Power, Adani Enterprises, SpiceJet, MOIL will report their results today.

 
Sun Pharma is trading at Rs 656.70 per share up by 0.31%. Adani Ports is trading flat at Rs 309.55 per share. Adani Enterprises is trading at Rs 90.90 per share down by 0.87%.
 
Hindalco is the top gainer in Nifty 50 index trading at Rs 187.15 per share up by 1.16%. FMCG heavyweight, ITC Limited is the top gainer in Sensex trading at Rs 272.70 per share up by 0.81%.
 
The levels of 8820-8830 has proved to be a key hurdle for Nifty50 index. A decisive move above this may open gates for levels of 8890-8950. On the downside, the zone of 8710-8720 is the strong support level for Nifty50 Index.

The European markets closed in green on Monday. FTSE 100 closed higher by 20.17 points; CAC 40 closed higher by 59.87 points; German DAX closed higher by 107.46 points.
 
The American NASDAQ closed higher by 29.83 points or 0.52%.  

 
The Asian markets are trading with mixed feelings. Nikkei 225 is trading down by 31.33 points. Shanghai Composite index is trading lower by 6.11 points; SGX Nifty is trading higher by 18.50 points.
