Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Ltd. is the top gainer in the BSE Small-cap select index trading at Rs 325 per share, up by Rs 15.15 per share or 4.99%. Tata Steel is contributing the most to the BSE Metal index gains. The index is trading at 11785.03 levels, up by 171.28 points or 1.47%. Jindal Steel is the top gainer in the BSE Metal index trading at Rs 100.60 per share, up by Rs 7.65 per share or 8.23%. The stock traded on its fresh 52-week high of Rs 101.70 per share, up by Rs 8.75 per share or 9.41%.
Adani Enterprises Limited is trading at Rs 98.80 per share, up by Rs 5.10 per share or 5.44%. At 12:00 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28539.41 up 70.66 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8844.45 up 22.75 points. A total of 40 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 11 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.68% at 13514.14, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.78% at 13573.18.
All the sectoral indices on BSE are trading in positive territory. Idea, Bharti Airtel, GAIL, TCS and Tata Steel are among the gainers, whereas Hindalco, M&M, Yes Bank, Bosch Ltd. and Tech Mahindra are losing sheen on NSE. The INDIA VIX is up 1.2% at 13.59.
At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 13.16 points at 28481.91, while the Nifty50 opened lower by 3.15 points at the 8818.55 mark.
There are 815 advances, 530 declines and 441 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting positive sentiments floating in the market.
Idea is the top Nifty gainer trading at Rs 110.25 per share, up by 4.11% whereas HDFC Bank is the top Nifty loser trading at Rs 1363.05 per share, down by 1.02% in Monday’s trading session.
The level of 8700 for Nifty is a crucial support level and, on the upside, the level of 8830 and 8890 are major roadblocks for the index.
The rupee opened at 67.06 per dollar.
The Asian markets are trading mixed on Monday. Japanese Nikkei 225 is trading lower by 27.32 points, Hang Seng is trading higher by 91.44 points, Shanghai Composite index is trading higher by 17.98 points and SGX Nifty is trading higher by 12.5 points. The American stocks finished higher on Friday as the Dow Jones Industrial extended its streak of record closes to the seventh session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 4.28 points to finish at 20,624.05. The S&P 500 index edged up 3.94 points and the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 23.68 points. FTSE 100 closed higher by 22.04 points, CAC 40 of France closed loser by 31.88 points and German DAX closed lower by 0.22 points.
