Nifty closes above 8960, Sensex gains over 200 points, RIL hits fresh 52-week high


Nifty closed at 8,963 levels, up by 65 points or 0.7%. Sensex closed at 29,048 levels, down up by 215 points or 0.7%. Both Nifty & Sensex close at two year closing high and Nifty is almost 33 points away from record closing levels. 
 
There were 879 advances, 763 declines and 296 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting bullish undertone floating in the market.
 
Reliance was the top Nifty gainer whereas, Grasim was the top Nifty loser in Friday’s trading session.
 

The BSE Mid-cap Index closed up 0.6% at 13,492 whereas, BSE Small-cap Index closed up 0.4% at 13,676.
RIL extended its gains on Monday’s trade. The stock hits its 9-year high of Rs 1312 per share and closed at Rs 1308 per share, up by Rs 49 per share or nearly 4%.
 
Sugar stocks in opening session extended their gains. KM Sugar Mills was up by 5.7%, Dhampur Sugar was up by 5.4%, Dwarikesh Sugar was up by 3.6%, Oudh Sugar was up by 3.7% and Ugar Sugar was up by 2.2%.
 

Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty trades range-bound; Reliance trades at 9-year high

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is showing upward movement in the afternoon hours. The stock touched its nine-year high of Rs 1309.9 per share.
 
The stock is trading at Rs 1306 per share, up by Rs 48 per share or 3.8%. It witnessed 12.7% addition in its open interest and is the most active stock on Monday by value.
 
With the surge in RIL, BSE Energy index is also trading in positive territory with the gains of 1.9%.
 
IDFC stock is trading at Rs 53 per share nearly up by 3%. The company on Sunday announced that it will acquire the 25% stake currently held by Natixis Global Asset Management in IDFC AMC and IDFC AMC Trustee.
 

There are 951 advances, 641 declines and 345 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting positive bias in the market.
 
At 1 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 29000 up 168 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8947 up 50 points. A total of 40 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 21 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
 
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.4% at 13460, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.5% at 13683.
 
Some buying activity is seen in Capital Goods, Metal, Pharma, Auto, while Healthcare, IT, Consumer Durables are showing weakness on BSE.
 
Reliance, Power Grid, IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints and NTPC are among the gainers, whereas Grasim, Idea, Aurobindo Pharma, TCS and Infosys are losing sheen on NSE.
 

The INDIA VIX is up 2.19% at 13.64.

Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty holds its position above 8950; Reliance top Nifty gainer



Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) extended its early gains and is trading at Rs 1302 per share, up by 3.5%. The stock is the biggest contributor to the BSE Energy index gains.
 
RIL touched its fresh 52-week high of Rs 1304 per share, up by 3.6% on Monday
 

Bhartiya International Limited from the BSE Small cap stocks is the top gainer in the BSE Small-cap index and is trading at Rs 523 per share, up by 11%.
 
There are 1055 advances, 507 declines and 370 unchanged stocks on NSE.
 

At 11:00 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 29053 up 220 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8962 up 64 points. A total of 35 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 19 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

 
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.5% at 13480, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.6% at 13703.
 
Some buying activity is seen in Capital Goods, Metal, Pharma, Auto, while IT, Consumer Durables are showing weakness on BSE.

Opening Bell – Nifty firmly opens above 8900 level; Bharti Airtel top Nifty gainer


At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 27 points at 28859, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 18 points at 8915 mark.
 
Bharti Airtel is the top Nifty gainer and TCS is the top Nifty loser in the morning hours on Monday. Bharti Airtel is trading at Rs 361.5 per share, up by 1.5% whereas TCS is trading at Rs 2468 per share, down by 1.02%.
 

There are 930 advances, 432 declines and 449 unchanged stocks on NSE in the morning hours on Monday reflecting strong positive bias floating in the market.
 
Coal India is trading at Rs 326 per share, up by 1.39%; Cipla is trading at Rs 593 per share, up by 0.75%.
 
Nifty50 has immediate resistance placed at the level of 8,925 and if it sustains above 8,925 it is likely to move towards the levels of 8980-9000, while on the downside, support is seen at the 8,860 level and the next support is placed at level of 8,820.
 

Rupee opened at 66.77 per dollar higher by 4 paise.
 
FTSE 100 closed lower by 8 points; CAC 40 of France closed higher by 31 points; German DAX closed lower by 32 points.
 
The US stocks ended marginally higher for the Friday session as Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen indicated a likely rate hike in March. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 3 points to finish at 21,006. The Nasdaq Composite gained 10 points at 5,871 and the S&P 500 Index closed at 2,383.
 

Asian stocks markets are trading mixed on Monday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 shed 100 points, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 35 points and Shanghai Composite gained 4 points.
