Nifty slips below 8,400 mark

The domestic market opened lower on Friday. The Sensex dropped over 300 points while Nifty slipped below 8,450 mark. There was selling pressure seen in HDFC, ITC and ICICI Bank.

At 9:33 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,206 down 311 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,439 down 87 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 1.16% at 12,782, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.65% at 12,843.

Sun Pharmaceuticals, SBI, Axis Bank and Dr Reddy's are among the gainers, whereas HDFC, Asian Paints, Hero MotoCorp, HUL and Tata Motors are losing sheen on NSE.

Some buying activity is seen in banking and pharma sectors, while realty, metal, FMCG, media and IT is showing weakness on NSE.

The INDIA VIX is up 1.26% at 15.6525. Out of 1,854 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,139 declined, 322 advanced and 393 remained unchanged today.

A total of 12 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while four stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The rupee opened lower at 67.15/$ as against the previous close of 66.62/$. Rupee hits to lowest level since August 29 against Dollar.
