Opening Bell - Markets open strong; Sensex up by nearly 40 points

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 37.47 points at 28367.17, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 41.7 points at the 8820.10 mark.
 

The rupee opened at 66.81 per dollar higher by 4 paise as against its previous close of 66.84 per dollar.
 
There are 956 advances, 445 declines and 388 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive bias floating in the market.
 
Over 450 companies are likely to report their quarterly earnings today, including big names such as SBI, M&M, Tata Power, Hindustan Zinc, Sun TV, Bank of Baroda, Bosch and Reliance Capital.
 
SBI is trading at Rs 279 per share up by Rs 3.15 per share; M&M is trading at Rs 1289 per share down by Rs 2.70 per share; Tata Power is trading at Rs 81.50 per share down by Rs 0.10 per share; Sun TV is trading at Rs 736.65 per share down by Rs 1 per share.
 
The European Markets closed in positive territory. FTSE 100 index closed at 7229.50 levels higher by 40.68 points; CAC 40 of France closed at 4826.24 levels, up by 59.64 points; German DAX closed at 11642.6 levels higher by 99.48 points.
 
NASDAQ closed at 5715.18 levels, up by 32.73 points.
 

The Asian Markets are trading in green. Nikkei 225 is trading at 19353.98 levels up by 446.31 points. Shanghai Composite is trading at 3192.41 levels up by 9.23 points. SGX Nifty is trading at 8832 levels, up by 31 points.
