The Government is set to raise excise duty on petrol and diesel. Basic excise duty has been raised to Rs.8.54 per litre on branded petrol and Rs.7.36 per litre on unbranded petrol. For unbranded diesel excise duty has been increased to Rs.5.83 and on branded diesel it has been raised to Rs.8.19 per litre.
