Key benchmark indices are trading in the positive zone despite mixed Asian cues. The Nifty opened 32 points up at 8,770, while the Sensex opened 135 points up at 28,378. The domestic market gained for a third day before the new Reserve Bank of India Governor Urjit Patel presents his first monetary policy later Tuesday.
At 10:36 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,295 up 52 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,751 up 13 points.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.15% at 13,503 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.29% at 13,161.
ONGC, Hero MotoCorp, Adani Ports, RIL, GAIL and Cipla are among the gainers, whereas Coal India, Bharti Airtel and L&T are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in oil & gas, IT, pharma, basic materials and FMCG sectors, while banking, capital goods, finance and consumer durables are showing weakness on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 0.14% at 15.5975. Out of 1,869 stocks traded on the NSE, 607 declined, 902 advanced and 360 remained unchanged today.
A total of 87 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 10 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Amtek Auto Ltd is currently trading at Rs. 48.8, up by Rs. 3.6 or 7.96% from its previous closing of Rs. 45.2 on the BSE after Mahindra CIE Automotive was interested in buying the assets of the debt-ridden auto component maker.
HPL Electric shares shares got listed at Rs.190 on the NSE to the issue price of Rs.202. HPL Electric & Power Ltd is currently trading at Rs. 188.35, down by Rs. 13.65 or 6.76% from its previous closing of Rs. 202 on the BSE.
Piramal Enterprises slipped 1%. Sebi has fined Piramal Enterprises Ltd and its promoters—Ajay G. Piramal, Swati A. Piramal, Nandini Piramal and N. Santhanam—for violating insider trading norms while selling its healthcare business to Abbott Laboratories Ltd in May 2010.
Wockhardt rallied 2.3% after the pharma company said the US health regulator has excluded Ceftriazone Sodium from import alert issued earlier against its active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing facility at Ankleshwar.
Hero MotoCorp advanced 0.85% after the company reported an 11.24% increase in sales at 6,74,961 units in September.
VST Tillers Tractors gained 1.2%on the BSE. The company said that September tractor sales came at 1,008 units. The September power tillers sales came at 1,432 units.
Filatex India zoomed 2.6% to Rs.73. The company announced commencement of commercial production of the company's project for manufacturing of 115 TPD Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY), 200 TPD of Drawn Textured Yarn (FTY) at its existing unit in Dahej, Gujarat.
Tata Motors inched up 0.55% on the BSE. Jaguar Land Rover September U.S. Sales hit 8,299 units which translate into increase of 21% from 6,850 units recorded in September 2015.
TVS Motor Company gained 0.57% after the company reported 26% increase in total sales at 2,93,257 units in September. The company had sold 2,32,744 units in the same month last year.
The rupee opened higher four paise at 66.54/$ against US Dollar Tuesday as against the previous close of 66.58/$.

The World has said India's GDP growth will remain strong at 7.6 pc in 2016 and 7.7pc in 2017. The reasons are known- A rebound in agriculture, civil service pay reforms supporting consumption, increasingly positive contributions from exports and a recovery of private investment in the medium term.
