At 9:29 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,380 up 136 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,776 up 38 points.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.50% at 13,550 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.69% at 13,213.
ONGC, Hero MotoCorp, Adani Ports, RIL, GAIL and Cipla are among the gainers, whereas Coal India, Bharti Airtel and L&T are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in oil & gas, auto, pharma, industrial and energy sectors, while banking is showing weakness on BSE.
The INDIA VIX is down 1.42% at 15.3975. Out of 1,842 stocks traded on the NSE, 387 declined, 1,059 advanced and 396 remained unchanged today.
A total of 66 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 5 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
The rupee opened higher four paise at 66.54/$ against US Dollar Tuesday as against the previous close of 66.58/$.
Asian equities were mixed in early trading on Tuesday. Nikkei 225 and Shanghai Composite are traging in green, while Hang Seng is trading marginally lower.
Wall Street closed lower on Monday. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 0.30% to close at 18,253.85 points. The S&P 500 fell 0.33% to end at 2,161.20 points. The Nasdaq slid 0.21% to close at 5,300.87 points.
HPL Electric and Power Limited ("HPL"), a multi-product electric equipment company, will make its stock market debut today.
The World has said India's GDP growth will remain strong at 7.6 pc in 2016 and 7.7pc in 2017. The reasons are known- A rebound in agriculture, civil service pay reforms supporting consumption, increasingly positive contributions from exports and a recovery of private investment in the medium term.
