HPCL aims to expand capacity of Mumbai, Vizag refineries: Report

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) is reportedly aiming to increase its Mumbai refinery’s capacity to 200,000 barrels per day from 130,000 bpd. The state-run company is also aiming to expand the Vizag refinery’s capacity to 300,000 bpd from 166,000 bpd. In this regard, the company will spend Rs 17000 crore for expanding the refineries. Further, the company will be able to get the environment approval by the end of this year. HPCL operates two major refineries producing a wide variety of petroleum fuels and specialties, one in Mumbai (west coast) of 6.5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) capacity and the other in Vishakapatnam, (east coast) with a capacity of 7.5 MMTPA.
