Nifty below 8,300 levels

At 10:21AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,416 up 9 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,296 down 2 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index and BSE Small-cap Index was trading flat.

Auto, Consumer Durables, Power, banking, healthcare, capital goods, FMCG, Oil and gas indices are the gainers, while banking, metal, realty indices are losers.

TCS, Tata Motors, Wipro, BHEL, Coal India, HUL are among the gainers, whereas ITC, Hindalco, ICICI Bank are losing sheen on BSE.

The WPI inflation data will be eyed and investors will hope it is better than street expectations like CPI data. ITC could see some selling on reports that the government is seeking to amend the anti-smoking law and may ban sale of loose cigarettes. Stocks like Yes Bank. LIC Housing Finance, Bajaj Finserv and Cipla will swing to the results beat.

Weakness in energy shares and fears of deflation pulled down US indices from their highs. The Dow closed 0.15% lower, the S&P 500 shed 0.26% and Nasdaq lost 0.07%.

Asian markets are mixed. Japan's Nikkei 225 index and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index are both trading lower while China's Shanghai is higher.

ING Vysya clocked gains on Tuesday. Warhol Ltd sold its 3.63% in the bank for an estimated Rs 674 crore, says a report.
Jet Airways, which soared 5% on Tuesday could see some swings after its chairman Naresh Goyal pledged his entire shareholding in the carrier of 51%, valued at over Rs2,600 crore, to Punjab National Bank (PNB).

Shares of Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) hit 20% upper circuit at Rs 10 after report said that Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the offer for buyback of DoCoMo's stake in the company.
